Unions are a unique catalyst for social change, born out of desire of working people to join together so that their voices are amplified where they work, live and play.

This year working people prepare to elect champions for them in the White House and in Congress and in their states. We're looking for people who'll fight for the things we care about and who we make caring about each other a lot easier.

Twelve memorable and talented artists have contributed their visions about what motivates us to participate in out democracy, along with quotations from sources as varied as the Dalai Lama, Medgar Evers and Michael Moore. We hope they will provide twelve months of inspiration.
