Top 5 Misconceptions about Infertility
Fertility becomes a major issue when couples are trying to have their first or second baby. There are many misconceptions, which are associated with infertility in both men and women. Here are some of the misunderstandings that make couples panic or decide that they are infertile and cannot become pregnant.
1) Women can Become Pregnant from the Time they start Trying
Couples, when in school, try to enjoy school life as much as possible and hence try all possible ways of not getting pregnant. After completing school, it is followed by college, then job, etc. Couples often have misconception about the fact that they can become pregnant at any point in their life, if they are really ready and willing to try it.
However, this is not true since studies have revealed the fact that a couple cannot easily become pregnant, if they are trying at least from past few months. It has also shed light on the fact that only 85% of the couples, who are trying to conceive from a year or so, will be successful and not all.
2) Celebrities have Twins after 35+, so can the Couples too
Most of the celebrities, who have already crossed their age of 35 and 40, have babies through various procedures. Celebs give priority to build a successful career and delay their marriage and conceiving. Hence, they plan to go for the option of freezing their eggs during their twenties.
This cannot be the case in all women since the female body, which crosses 40+, cannot successfully produce healthy eggs like before. During such cases, even if the couples try IVF, the chances of completing the three trimesters is only 9% and most of the women end up going through miscarriages.
When a girl child is born, the baby contains millions of eggs. However, when the girl reaches puberty, the numbers will be reduced to about 400,000 and gradually decreases. The procedure becomes faster when the women reach 35. Even though women are still ovulating and passing their monthly cycle, it is not necessary that they can still bear a healthy child in the womb.
3) Infertility Issue is only found in Females and not in males
From centuries, it is believed that only women suffer from infertility issues and hence stop the family tree. With the improvement in technology, studies have shown that around 40% of the males in the whole world suffer from infertility issues (in the families with no child). This was proven with the help of a technique that analyze the sterility of the sperms to successfully attach and combine with the egg.
Women, who undergo fertility treatments, end up giving birth to 5, 7 and even 8 babies in one shot. Hence, couples who can afford only one additional member to their family often think 10 to 20 times before enlisting in such treatment programs.
However, with the improved technology and treatment procedures, specialists and OBGYN have come up with different procedures that can reduce or restrict such chances of super-fertility.
In-vitro Fertilization or otherwise referred to as IVF procedure is a type of procedure wherein the healthy eggs and sperms that are donated by the healthy and young people, to the bank will be utilized.
However, infertility issues do not always have to end up with only solution of IVF technique. There are hundreds of procedures, which are both low-cost and non-invasive types and can induce pregnancy in couples, who have been trying from a few months to a year.
4) Healthy Body can always produce Healthy eggs
Some women, who are in their 30s and yet are fit and fine, often conclude that their reproductive system can always produce healthy eggs, if they keep their body in good shape. This is not true. Even though the body of a woman who is in her 30s or 35+ is in good shape, the biological clock that decides the production of number of eggs will never be affected from this feature. Women might often end up with 5 to 20 eggs even after taking care of their body.
5) Medication Habits
Couples who go through stressful day often go for some medication types such as opioids, melatonin, epinephrine and other such types. Even though it offers partial relief, there is no guarantee that such drugs can always be safer and might always end up affecting fertility rate. Therefore, try avoiding such medications, and instead indulging in natural remedies that can take care of such issues.
